HOW TO QUILT: A Beginner's Guide To Quilting

Go To The GuideWhile I was surfing the net recently, I found this great resource for beginning quilters --"How To Quilt: A Beginner's Guide to Quilting" by Penny Halgren. I was most impressed with the publication and thought you might also find it valuable.

The book provides a simple to follow, 9-step guide in the quilt making process. Each step is described in careful detail that is very "easy" to understand. The 9-step guide virtually takes you by the hand and shows you exactly what to do each step along the way.

While the book clearly outlines each step in the quilt-making process, it allows flexibility in the type of quilt you make. You can make the very quilt that Penny makes or you can choose your own design. The end product is up to you. Perhaps you'd like to make a baby quilt, table-runner, wall hanging, or even a quilt for your own bed. The choice is yours!

From selecting the block design and fabric colours, through the cutting and sewing stages and finally to quilting and binding -- each step is thoroughly covered. There are also heaps of useful "tips and tricks" to improve your sewing and quilt making skills. It really does make learning how to create beautiful quilts easy.

I was particularly impressed with Chapter 3: Ready, Set, Cut. The instructions for cutting are clear and precise. And for all the left-handers out there - the instructions cater for you, also! Yippee!

The book features several color photos to assist in illustrating each point. Unfortunately, the photos are not as clear as they might be. Despite this, they are sufficient enough to "explain" the process involved.

The cool thing is that you can download this book straight to your computer immediately. You won't need to wait for it to arrive via "snail-mail." The electronic version is available at the moment for the special price of just $US17. Click here to get all of the details.

I actually paid $27 for my copy a few weeks ago - bummer! I'm not certain how long it will be on sale but I'm guessing it may finish at the end of August as it is advertised as a "summer" (northern hemisphere) sale!

If you'd prefer, "A Beginner’s Guide to Quilting" is also available in a printed format for $US27, as well as in a convenient CD format for $US19. Click here to read the details.

Your copy of A Beginner’s Guide to Quilting comes with 3 special Bonuses! The complete "package" includes all of the information you need to jump start your quilting hobby!

I believe it is very good value for money and I would recommend it, especially for those new to quilting.

Don't be put off by the rather annoying pop-up that "flashes" onto your screen when you go to the website but once you close this window the site itself is very user friendly.
